Created in memory of ISC founder Fernando Vigil’s grandmother, the Fabiola M. Vigil Scholarship honors her passion for continuing education and provides support for Northern New Mexico students to reflect on climate change and pursue a field in the sciences or renewable energy.
Continuing our efforts to make a real impact on the shift to clean energy, we have established the Fabiola M. Vigil Memorial Scholarship for students in the Española Valley of New Mexico. Fabiola was a devoted educator within the Española Public School district for many years and grandmother to ISC founder Fernando Vigil and Director of Field Operations Marco Vigil. Her passion and devotion for furthering education were instilled in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as she has raised Engineers, Doctors, Nurses, Educators, Accountants, and Technicians, all of who are graduates from the Española Valley.
This fund has been established to provide scholarships to deserving young men and women who intend to enter a higher education field pertaining or specific to sustainability, renewable energy, engineering, or math & sciences.
“Our objective is to provide opportunities to the community we came from. We want to see these younger generations continue to succeed and acknowledge their hard work. Hopefully, this scholarship will inspire them to find solutions that can impact the environment and their local community. This scholarship could give a student that extra push or boost in confidence to pursue higher education, hopefully in a renewable path.”
Marco Vigil, Director of Field Operations, Industrial Solar Consulting and Española High School graduate
A total of three scholarships are available to seniors from Española, Pojoaque, McCurdy, and Peñasco High Schools (NM) entering higher education. The application deadline has been updated to May 5, 2021 and requires two essay questions of at least 500 words that address the student’s thoughts on the impact of global warming on their own community.
